Hello.
I'm trying to build up a little system using the DM RTS 16 and got a problem. Though I'm not sure I'm utilising it right.
I've got a serial device that transmit data on DM Port1. Is it possible to tune the DM so that it sends this incoming signal to, let's say, ports 3,4,5? Or another DM is needed with UDP connection between them?

Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

Hi,

Yes, UDP is the way to go here.

How is Port 1 getting data?
a) Com Port
b) Socket
c) Direct serial via RJ45/DB9?

We also have UDP help files here which might be useful:

Hello, Kurt.
Thank you for reply.
I've read those help files and still can't get the desired connection.
Sorry, it seems I'm not that good in terms, so I'll try to describe just what I've got here.
Look, Port1 is getting data through self-made cable. From the device side there is DB9 socket and on the DeviceMaster side there's RJ45. The cable is good for I can see the data coming to Port1 via Test Terminal. So, I believe it's direct serial via RJ45/DB9.
Now.. I need this very data to be copied(transmitted) to Port3, Port5 and Port7 of this same DeviceMaster.
Those help files I've read have examples, but there are two DMs out there. This just makes me stuck. What IP should I enter in the Target IP Address form?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,

Use the same IP Address as the DeviceMaster.

On Port 1 UDP configuration page, do the following:

As an example, I'm using the default IP of 192.168.250.250

Checkmark the following:

"Enable serial to Ethernet"
"Enable Ethernet to Serial"
"Allow Ethernet data from any IP address"

Target IP Address Target Port Source Port
192.168.250.250 7002 0
192.168.250.250 7004 0
192.168.250.250 7006 0

On Ports 3, 5 and 7, ONLY do this:

Checkmark the following:

"Enable serial to Ethernet"
"Enable Ethernet to Serial"
"Allow Ethernet data from any IP address"

Make sure you Save after each Port configuration.

That should work.

Hello, Kurt.

Many thanks to you.
Actually, I've never seen those help files you mentioned. I was reading the ssvr_help and that was useless. But your links, they helped.
Thank you very much.
